Why I like the Drive Thru

Besides the bad things I've talked about, there are actually reasons why I like the drive thru! Here they are:
1) On those really cold days, it saves me from having to get out of my car.
2) On the really hot days, it also saves me from having to get out.
3) The days that I am really tired, it saves me from having to move too much.
4) Most of the time, I like the drive thru because it is quicker than going inside.
5) For those of you who smoke, I've heard it allows you to finish it, while ordering.
6) It allows you to not have to struggle carrying everything to your car, instead it is passed right to you.
7) When my back, legs, or anything hurt, I do not have to move from my sitting position.
8) Sometimes, I’m just that lazy.
9) I especially like the drive thru when I am not dressed appropriately to be seen in public.
10) When there is a really good song on that I don't want to miss, I like the drive thru!

And these are the main reasons why I, and others, like the drive thru!

Do not's of a drive thru

Along with my feelings on poor drive thru etiquette, there is always a list of do’s and do not’s. Following is what I believe to be a list of do not’s!

At the local drive thru that I frequent, quite often, these are some things I have witnessed that believe people should not be doing. It begins with the line up. At this particular drive thru, when the line up gets more than 4 cars long, there is a drive way that leads to a parking lot in the back of the building. Now, when lining up in this drive thru, people should make sure they are not blocking this driveway, as other cars do need to pass through in order to park. With this being said, cars that wait to pass through this line to reach the parking lot should not by any means think this is an easy way to cut in line! Some people make it look like they are waiting to get into the parking long, then when someone leaves a car lengths space, people cut in line! I believe this is not acceptable and have seen people get out of their cars to yell at those who cut. It is common courtesy to not do such a thing, seeing as everyone else has waited their turn in line.

Another do not of the drive thru is…. drink and drive through it! I have witnessed someone, who must have thought this would be a good idea, drive through and completely take out the entire speaker/order box. We can all imagine what the results and consequences of those actions were! And one last do not… drive through so fast through the line that you end up hopping a curb and almost hitting the wall. When I saw this happen, you can also imagine, the drive thru line being held up for a very long time. Thankfully I had already gone through, and was lucky enough to be eating and watching this happen. Oh, and thankfully no one was hurt in any of these events either! Overall, these are things I believe are do not’s of a drive thru.

Just so you know, it looks worse than it was! Everyone survived and were not even hurt.

Proper Drive Thru Etiquette

There are people today who I believe lack proper drive-thru etiquette. What I think to be proper drive etiquette is when going through a drive- thru; one makes their order short and is prepared, resulting in speedy service. One should not order fifteen coffees; one coffee for themselves and one coffee for everyone else they work with. This is a prime example of what not to do in a drive-thru, considering they were designed to speed up the ordering process, not slow it down. Since there are people who choose to do such things like placing a large order, it has now made the drive-thru slower then going inside. Therefore, orders should be kept to a minimum, such as 1-4 coffees.

Along with placing large orders, there are also those who reach the window and do not have their payment ready. This is another reason that slows down the process. While sitting in line waiting to reach the window, people should be getting their payment ready. By doing this less time is wasted in line for them, and those waiting in line behind.

And finally, when deciding to stop at a restaurant and choosing the drive-thru, one should already know what they want to order. It is unfair to those waiting in line when someone is sitting at the window trying to decide what they want to order. These decisions should be made on the way to the restaurant, by the time it is that person’s turn to order.

In the end, by not placing large orders and not wasting time in the drive thru, people will then portray proper drive-thru etiquette, pleasing many other users of what is meant to be a speedy system for ordering!

This will give you a little laugh!
